Harvest and climate

The 2017 vintage was marked by a cold spring with hailstorms, followed immediately by a very hot, dry summer. The harvest was brought forward considerably to ensure outstanding quality from the small crop. The grapes were picked by hand in mid-August.

Fermentation and vinification

Off the skins, with soft pressing, in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.

Tasting notes

Sassobianco 2017 is a pale straw yellow with greenish reflections. The nose shows good intensity, with citrus blossom such as orange blossom and grapefruit and fresh exotic yellow-fleshed fruit, followed by light herbaceous notes closing on a pleasing minerality. On the palate it has good freshness and savouriness supported by a good alcoholic base; the finish is long and brings back all the notes found on the nose.

Serving temperature and glass

The recommended serving temperature is between 10 - 12 C°. The glass to use for this wine is the tulip glass.

Pairing

Shellfish antipasti, first courses with vegetables.

Production area

The Villa Bossi estate, at an altitude of around 300 metres above sea level, mainly in the Camerata vineyard, south-west facing and set on the hillside, with 0.5 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and 0.5 hectares of Chardonnay and other varieties.
