Harvest and climate

The summer of 2019 was particularly hot and dry, yet the rare rains were enough to produce healthy grapes, with the aromas and scents we would find again in the wine. The quality of the grapes picked and brought into the cellar was outstanding. The grapes were picked by hand at the end of August.

Fermentation and vinification

Off the skins, following run-off after about 24/36 hours, in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature.

Ageing

Rests for 5-6 months in steel tanks.

Tasting notes

Violana 2019 is an intense cherry pink with purple highlights. On the nose it is intense with fine fruit, shadings of raspberry, crisp cherry and wild strawberry. The finish reveals a nuance of fleshy red rose and violet. On the palate, the first impression is fresh and well structured; the finish returns in all its fruitiness of small red fruit, in particular cherry.

Serving temperature and glass

The recommended serving temperature is between 10 and 12 °C. The glass to use for this wine is the tulip.

Pairing

Prawns in cocktail sauce, first courses with rich sauces and tomato.

Production area

Tenuta della Villa Bossi, at an altitude of around 300 metres above sea level, mainly in the Sottomonte and Camerata vineyards, with a southerly exposure on the hillside, where there are 9.2 hectares of Sangiovese.
