I MIGLIORI VINI ITALIANI 2021 AND MARCHESI GONDI - TENUTA BOSSI

Marchesi Gondi – Tenuta Bossi gathers further accolades, with the news coming from the guide I Migliori Vini Italiani 2021, Luca Maroni.

Among the magnificent scores given to the Marchesi Gondi wines, the Rosso Colli Toscana Centrale IGT Mazzaferrata 2013 stands out with 93/100 and finally the Vin Santo del Chianti Rufina Riserva Cardinal de Retz 2007 with 95/100.

Cardinal de Retz 2007 is amber in colour with intense tawny shades. Great olfactory intensity, with remarkable complexity and breadth of aromas. Soft notes of dried fig and apricot, almond, caramel, candied orange peel, date and chestnut honey close on sweet spice and a lightly ethereal finish. On the palate it is sweet, supple and round, both elegant and powerful. The balance is intriguing: a structure carried entirely by an elegant alcoholic note finds freshness in support. The finish is extremely long, echoing all the notes found on the nose, dried apricot above all.

Luca Maroni's closing comment: Marchesi Gondi offers excellent wines. Both the Villa Bossi Chianti Rufina Riserva 2016 and the Chianti Rufina San Giuliano 2018 exemplify the aromatic power of the grapes of this production zone, giving themselves to the nose turgid and unblemished, with notes of spiced black cherry of great aromatic intensity. The Mazzaferrata 2015 confirms itself as a Supertuscan of Bordeaux-like souplesse and constitution, of international standing. Splendid, the Cardinal De Retz Vin Santo del Chianti Rufina Riserva 2007. Its incredible weight of fruit and spice, powerful and succulent, radiates towards us with the sublime sweetness of its balsamic and floral mantle. Among the finest Vin Santo of all time, chapeau.
