I Migliori Vini Italiani 2020

Marchesi Gondi – Tenuta Bossi gathers further accolades, with the news coming from the guide I Migliori Vini Italiani 2020, Luca Maroni.
Among the magnificent scores given to the Marchesi Gondi wines, the Chianti Rufina Riserva Pian dei Sorbi 2016 stands out with 93/100, the Rossi Colli Toscana Centrale IGT Mazzaferrata 2013, with 94/100 and finally Fiammae 2016 with 96/100.
Fiammae 2016 is a brilliant ruby red. The nose is very intense and highly complex, with sensations opening on red fruit both fresh and dried — cherry, strawberry, raspberry — before turning to spiced and toasted notes. The spice is sweet, closing on nuances of dark chocolate and sweet tobacco. The palate is powerful and rich, with tight, silky tannins. The mouth returns the strawberry and cherry fruit alongside the toasted and spiced notes. A wine of great personality.
Luca Maroni's closing comment:
<< Marchesi Gondi offers great wines in a fine sequence. A glass substantially improved, now among the finest in the region. The Violana 2018 reveals fruit of great cleanliness and unblemished vigour, genuinely new in its expressive tones; then the spicy Pian dei Sorbi Chianti Rufina Riserva 2016 and the intensely perfumed Villa Bossi Chianti Rufina Riserva 2015, two wines of rare aromatic integrity. Of still higher calibre and lineage is the Mazzaferrata 2013, a Supertuscan of truly exemplary density and precision. The finest of all is the Fiammae Limited Edition 2016: here the consistency, the balance and the integrity — that is, the power, the softness and the fragrance — are those of an absolute champion of viticulture and applied oenology.
