GUIDA ESSENZIALE AI VINI D’ITALIA 2021 AND MARCHESI GONDI

Marchesi Gondi – Tenuta Bossi gathers further accolades: the Guida Essenziale ai Vini d’Italia 2021, published by Doctor Wine, has rated the Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG “Villa Bossi 2016” at 93/100 and the Vin Santo del Chianti Rufina Riserva Cardinal de Retz 2007 at 92/100.

The Cardinal de Retz 2007 is amber in colour with intense tawny shades. Great olfactory intensity, with remarkable complexity and breadth of aromas. Soft notes of dried fig and apricot, almond, caramel, candied orange peel, date and chestnut honey close on sweet spice and a lightly ethereal finish. On the palate it is sweet, supple and round, both elegant and powerful. The balance is intriguing: a structure carried entirely by an elegant alcoholic note finds freshness in support. The finish is extremely long, echoing all the notes found on the nose, dried apricot above all.
