Fiammae 2016, 3rd best red wine in Italy - Luca Maroni

In the splendid setting of the Salone delle Fontane in Rome, on Friday 13 February, the show organised by Luca Maroni took the stage to honour the finest wines he tasted for the guide I migliori vini Italia 2020, published by Sens.

We of Marchesi Gondi took part in this splendid event with the IGT Fiammae 2016, awarded 3rd best red wine in Italy with a score of 96 points.

This wine is a brilliant ruby red. On the nose it is highly intense and of great complexity, with sensations that open on red fruits both fresh and dried – cherry, strawberry, raspberry – before unfolding into spicy and toasted notes. The spice is sweet, closing on nuances of dark chocolate and sweet tobacco. On the palate it is powerful and rich, with tight, silky tannins. The mouth returns the fruity notes of strawberry and cherry along with the toasted and spiced ones. A wine of great personality!
