Expo 2015

On the occasion of EXPO 2015, Confagricoltura and Ferrovie dello Stato (Freccia Rossa) have published a selection of farm products that particularly define the Italian territories served by the Freccia trains (Turin, Milan, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples and Salerno).

For Tuscany, one of these products is the Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG “Villa Bossi 2010” of Marchesi Gondi – Tenuta Bossi, which has always been the emblem of the selection of the finest blends. One might call it a Gran Riserva, a Grand Cru or a wine for contemplation. Always the estate's flagship, it is a structured and very long-lived Riserva, made with these varieties only since 1988.

Appearance: intense ruby red, with good depth of colour and light purple reflections. Nose: great impact, with fruit of cassis and ripe, macerated blackberry, followed by sweet, well-integrated spice of liquorice and vanilla with balsamic and toasted shadings. The finish brings notes of cocoa. Palate: structure and character. The fullness of the wine shows in the roundness and personality of the tannins; the finish is long, with fruity and mineral notes, closing on notes of liquorice.

For the occasion, Villa Bossi 2010 was paired with grilled fillet of beef in a red wine sauce.
