This year too the heart of the event was wine, and above all the wines of the Chianti Rufina territory. The Consorzio Chianti Rufina and the Municipality of Rufina set out tables in the hall of Villa Poggio Reale to host as many as 35 guests (in full compliance with all COVID regulations).
Marchesi Gondi took part in this splendid initiative by presenting the Vinsanto del Chianti Rufina Riserva Cardinal de Retz 2006 and the Rosso dei Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT Mazzaferrata 2013.
The Cardinal de Retz 2006 is amber in colour with intense tawny shades. Great aromatic intensity, with remarkable complexity and breadth. Mellow notes of dried fig and apricot, almond, caramel, candied orange peel, date and chestnut honey close on sweet spice and a slightly ethereal finish. On the palate it is sweet, soft and round, with both elegance and strength. Its gustatory balance is fascinating: on a structure entirely governed by an elegant alcoholic note, it finds supporting freshness. The finish is extremely long, echoing all the notes perceived on the nose, in particular dried apricot.
