45 Harvests of Bernardo Gondi

On Saturday 11 February, at Palazzo Gondi, a vertical tasting was held in honour of the 45 harvests made by Bernardo Gondi at Tenuta Bossi in Pontassieve (Florence). The tasting took place in the imposing hall of the Renaissance Palazzo Gondi, built in 1489 to a design by Giuliano da Sangallo.
In 1972 Bernardo began working in the family estate and oversaw his first harvest. He thus started to give his own identity to the estate's wines, already famous for a long time and even awarded at the 1889 Paris Expo.

Tenuta Bossi lies in the heart of Chianti Rufina, a renowned wine-growing area known since Etruscan times. It comprises 315 hectares, of which 19 ha are under vine, 32 ha are olive groves and the remainder woodland and arable land. Since 1592 it has belonged to the GONDI, an ancient Florentine family documented as far back as the twelfth century. Beneath the Villa lie the monumental vaulted cellars, where the wines mature in oak casks and barriques.

Villa Bossi Chianti Rufina DOCG is the emblematic wine of Tenuta Bossi, and the vertical retraced its history through 10 particularly significant harvests starting from the 1970s. The tasting was led by oenologist Fabrizio Moltard and by Massimo Castellani, AIS delegate for Florence.
